Why are so many podcasts going video?

Watching is now part of how people consume podcasts. Edison Research's The Infinite Dial 2026 found that 57% of Americans 12 and older have both listened to and watched a podcast. Since 2025, Edison's measure includes watching. In the same research, the most-used podcast service among U.S. weekly podcast consumers 13+ in Q4 2025 was YouTube (32%), ahead of Spotify (25%) and Apple (20%).

What do I need to record a video podcast?

  • A camera for each speaker, or one well-framed shot for in-person shows.
  • A good microphone per speaker. Audio still matters most.
  • Even, soft lighting and a tidy background.
  • A recording method that captures each person's video and audio separately when possible.

What happens in a video podcast edit?

The editor syncs audio and video, cuts for pacing, switches between speakers, cleans and mixes the audio, adds captions, and prepares a thumbnail. The same edit produces vertical clips for social media.

Do I need a studio for a video podcast?

No. Many video podcasts are recorded remotely. A live producer can monitor everyone's video during the session. If you prefer a room, we book and coordinate third-party studio time.

How do audio and video versions stay in sync?

We edit once and publish twice. The audio version goes to your podcast feed, and the video version goes to YouTube and Spotify, with the same pacing and cuts. Captions, a thumbnail and vertical clips come from the same edit, so nothing needs to be recorded twice.

If your show is audio-only today, you don't have to switch everything at once. Many shows start by recording on camera and using the video only for clips, then decide later whether to publish full video episodes.
