Can you produce a podcast remotely?

Yes. A podcast can be produced entirely remotely. At Stimulate, planning calls, live producing, editing and delivery all happen online, so we work with podcasters everywhere. A producer joins your recording session from wherever they are, and we coordinate third-party studio time if you want a room.

What do I need on my end?

  • A quiet room and a dedicated microphone for each speaker.
  • Headphones, so audio from the call does not echo back into the mic.
  • A reliable internet connection, wired if possible.
  • A camera if you are making a video podcast.

How do remote guests join?

Guests join the session online with a link. The live producer checks their microphone and camera before you start, so you are not troubleshooting on air. Guests in other cities or countries are no harder to record than someone across town.

Does remote recording sound worse than a studio?

It doesn't have to. Good microphones, quiet rooms and recording each speaker on their own track get you most of the way. Editing, cleanup and mixing do the rest. When a guest's setup is weak, the producer catches it early.

When does a studio make sense?

When you want everyone in one room, a particular look on camera, or a guest who has no setup at home. Then we book and coordinate third-party studio time. Stimulate does not operate its own studio.

How does remote recording keep quality high?

Each person records locally where possible, so internet hiccups do not end up in the final audio. A live producer checks microphones, cameras and connections before the session, watches levels during it and notes timestamps for the edit. Afterward, the editor cleans up, balances voices and cuts clips from the same recording.
